User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:55.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/55.0
Build ID: 20170501100238

Steps to reproduce:

open a new tab
type in: https://user:password@domain.tld/path
the http basic auch dialog asks if I want to log in. I confirm this.
The page doesn't get loaded.
I have to click in the address bar and press enter again or open another tab with https://domain.tld/path where I am (then) already logged in (with http basic auth).

https://aerobatic:aerobatic@auth-demo.aerobatic.io/protected-standard/

You are asked if you really want to log in (this is the "deprecation"/user protection), you click OK, page is empty. If you open another tab with that URL you are already logged in and the page is shown.
I reproduced one time only in Fx56.0a1 (2017-07-08) on Win10.
Component: General → Networking: HTTP
Product: Firefox → Core
Summary: no page loaded after http basic auth dialog was shown and OK was clicked https://user:password@domain.tld/path → blank page loaded after http basic auth for https://user:password@domain.tld/path

I think this is a Webextension API related bug or a bug of uBlock Origin.

I have the same issue as well, at least since Nightly 57. I use uBlock Origin but disabling it doesn't make the issue go away. Also, sometimes it keeps doing this for me no matter how many times I try to open it in the same or the new tab.
Well, to clarify, if I open it without the auth credentials, it works and I'm already logged in. But trying to open it with prefilled credentials rarely works.
OK, I'll try to reproduce locally and take a look if successful.
