Details

Device: - Nexus 6 (Android 7.0); - Galaxy Note 4 (Android 5.0.1) Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to google.com; 2. Tap in the search field and write anything; 3. Tap in any white space in the page to deselect the search field. 4. Try to select the text that you typed without actively selecting the text field. Expected result: Text selection should work even if the search field is not actively selected. Actual result: Text selection does not work if the text field is not actively selected Notes: The issue does not seem to persist in other search engines(DuckDuckGo, Bing, IMDB...), but it does persist in others (eg. Amazon). Text selection works if the search field is at the top of the page and the google logo is not visible anymore. Video link: https://youtu.be/WlW3P5Du6k0
I can reproduce this. I notice google.com will move the search field to the top of the page at step 4. We'll need to figure out what happens there that causes the select to fail.
