Currently, if you cut-and-paste a web-site's URL into the Mozilla URL window,
you have to ensure that it is contained in a single line of text. If it's been
taken from an email, however, where the URL was broken into two lines, it won't
work because Mozilla ignores everything after the carriage-return [CR].

So, my suggestion is to make the URL window [CR] "aware", ie. it will ignore
carriage-returns and append additional lines to the previous text.

This would improve the ease-of-use for all users, especially beginners who won't
understand the problem.

This isn't an RFE. It's a dup of a bug which I'm CCed on. I can't find it,
perhaps because it's been marked fixed.
Severity: enhancement → minor
Summary: [RFE] URL bar should ignore [CR] in pasted addresses → URL bar should ignore [CR] in pasted addresses
I think this is fixed. I'm using build 2002-06-11 on WinNT. Can someone else
confirm?
Using 2002061108/trunk/W2K I could say, that this bug/RFE isn't fixed. Try to
paste address with initial [CR] or [CR] in the middle of address.
oops, I tested this again and it definitely does NOT work. I must have been
pasting a single line (that had wrapped) before.
Is this a duplicate of bug 23485?

Deleting linebreaks from a pasted URL is a great idea. It would make it much
easier to cut and paste a long URL from sources such as email messages.

Also, I strongly recommend deleting leading and trailing whitespace from the
pasted URL! There is no need to have this, and it breaks the URL syntax. Doing
this would make it easier for the user to cut and paste, as it is very easy to
accidentally select nearby blank lines and end-of-line markers when selecting a
large block of text.
This is a dup of Bug #23485. Be prepared, that one was opened in 2000 and has
over 100 comments.
