I believe this should be optional, with an opt-in, so a default disabled setting.
I regularly open websites in temporary containers (an extension creates and automatically deletes them) but I don't want them to be deleted from the history. Apart from the fact that my history items are deleted and I wont be able to find websites again, it would be very frustrating for other reasons including that I, as a user would have no idea why my history items are disappearing, and I would think it to be a browser bug or a misbehaving addon. If I wouldn't be so against chromium based browsers, that would probably make me switch.
I think those who need this should consider using the private browsing mode, as that (already) does exactly what they need.
That doesnt mean though that this feature should not exist, only that it should not be enabled by default.

I double what comment #2 said. This should be optional. I don't want my history deleted when I delete the container.
