In theory the stub installer should install only the current release version of Firefox. In reality some installs are done with older Firefox versions, it's a small share but probably worth understanding why this happens since technically it should not https://sql.telemetry.mozilla.org/queries/3650#table

I never found anything concrete on this from looking at the logs; I suspect that this is something we might want to try and grok via bug 1429889.
