Could you please follow the instructions at https://wiki.mozilla.org/CloudServices/Sync/File_a_desktop_bug, and see if you have any sync error logs on either machine, and if so, attach them here? If you don't, please enable "success" logging then re-sync and attach any success logs.

This log is from my laptop 2, already sent error log from laptop 1

This may be part of the same problem, but last night I imported my passwords to laptop 2 and then this morning when I restarted they were all gone. Imported them again and they were there, even after restarting firefox. When I restarted the laptop 2 they were gone. Repeated this twice more to confirm. Same results
Okay, I just opened laptop 2 and the passwords I imported are gone again. I had shut it down last night and when I opened it this morning the passwords were gone. Everything else I had sync'd is still there and always has been. It won't sync passwords or as I discovered now, keep them after a long shut down.

So I tried again. I tried syncing and the passwords did not sync. I imported them and close firefox twuce and reopened it twice. The imported passwords were there. I then restarted the laptop and the passwords were gone when I opened firefox.

This has the same symptoms as bug 621846, which probably means your key3.db file has been recreated. I expect you will find that things will start working if you delete logins.json from your "laptop 2"'s profile. Let me know if you need more info on how to do this.

Mark you sent the previous suggestion for a fix. Can you send me detailed instructions on how to do what you are suggesting. You might as well be talking greek for all I understand about what you are suggesting, but with details I am more than willing to give it a shot.
Thanks

Hi Bill,
On "laptop 2", first verify that it has no passwords you care about (eg, visit about:preferences, switch to the "security" pane, and view your saved passwords) - if it does have passwords you care about and which aren't on your other laptop, see below. Then:
* visit about:support, then find the "Profile Folder" option, and click the "Open Folder" button - this will open Windows Explorer.
* close Firefox, so it isn't running as you perform the following steps.
* find the file logins.json. If you *do* have passwords you care about, rename this file to, say, "logins.json.old", so you can rename it back later if necessary. If you don't have passwords you care about, just delete the file.
* restart the browser and wait a minute or so.
The browser's menu button is likely to indicate that you need to "reconnect to sync" - select that option and re-enter your Firefox Accounts (ie, Sync) password.
You should hopefully then find your passwords do Sync correctly. It *might* be necessary to visit about:preferences#sync, disable password syncing, perform a sync, then re-enable password syncing.

Hi Mark, thanks for trying, but still no real success. I tried deleting logins.json and the passwords sync'd. Then restarted computer and the passwords disappeared. I started over and deleted logins.json. Tried syncing without syncing the passwords and then syncing with the the passwords and didn't get the passwords. Tried everything again, still no sync'd passwords. Hope you have another solution
