From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.78 (X11; U; Linux i686) BuildID: 0.9.9 (Mozilla Debian Package 2:0.9.9-1) When logging in to the Nationwide Building Society via the URL listed, the sign-in page is displayed. However when the entry form is completed and "Send" clicked, an error is displayed: request#no_content_length Description: Unable to process request for URL"http://172.31.31.230/banking/accountmanagerfs.asp?ID=3b33a48afb674c394ecdcbb4b0f9605aa7d" I created a new profile using the user agent string: Mozilla/4.78 (X11; U; Linux i686) and the site appears to work fine thereafter. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Have an internet banking account with Nationwide 2.Click "Sign-on" icon at URL mentioned 3.Complete form with correct user details 4.Click "Send" button Actual Results: The bottom half of the frameset cleared and a warning about changing to an unencrypted page from an encrypted one appeared. Then the page was replaced by a page with a white background and the error message shown in the description. Expected Results: List of accounts to which I have access via Nationwide internet banking should be displayed. The site works fine with a change in user agent string to Mozilla/4.78 (X11; U; Linux i686) If the wrong password is used, the normal "your details have been entered incorrectly" error window is displayed. I have let Nationwide know that I have been having problems, although not (yet) that the user-agent trick seems to work and so there may a browser-sniffing problem.

Summary: Nationwide Building Society does not work with mozilla unless user-agent string is changed → Nationwide Building Society online banking does not work with mozilla unless user-agent string is changed
The email I sent to Nationwide (customer.services@nationwide.co.uk): --------- I contacted you recently because I was having problems using the Mozilla 0.9.9 browser with the Nationwide banking site. You suggested some possible remedies, but unfortunately none of these was successful. Having tried assorted adjustments to my browser, I found a solution - but it seems to indicate that the problem is not with my browser, but rather with your website. Solution: using the same browser, with the same settings (encryption etc) I set it up to pretend to be another browser when connecting to Nationwide online banking. Whereas the real user-agent string (and the one used previously) was: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.9) Gecko/20020314 changing the user-agent string to: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.78 (X11; U; Linux i686) resulted in the site working perfectly. Perhaps you might like to arrange with your IT department or service provider to correctly sniff browser versions in order to accept the latest Mozilla-technology browser. As you are no doubt aware, this is the most standards-compliant web browser technology currently available, used in Netscape 6 and probably the next version of AOL... For a summary (and technical assistance if you would like it) please see: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137816 Thanks James --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nationwide have replied to the effect that: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following browsers and operating systems are fully supported by Nationwide's Internet Banking service: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.01 with Service Pack 2 and above. Netscape Navigator (Communicator) version 4.04 or above. Windows 95 Windows 98 Windows Me (Millennium Edition) Windows NT4 (Running Service Pack 4) Windows 2000 Windows XP Mac OS 8 (running IE 4.51) Mac OS 9 (running IE 5) We are unable to offer any support if you are accessing the Internet Bank via any other system. sometimes it lookes, like the do not even _read_ this letters, there only needs to be the word "browser" in it and you get this answer or so..
Have found that in signon/index2.asp "<!-- Netscape 6 | PC | Windows NTWindows XP --> <script LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> if (document.layers) { window.onResize = reloadNow; } function reloadNow() { document.location = document.location; } </SCRIPT> </head> <script language="Javascript"> var str_referrer; str_referrer = document.referrer; </script>" Do they care now about NS 6/7 and Mozilla ?
I have been able to successfully use the Nationwide Online Banking with Mozilla 1.0 (Build ID 2002053012) on 11th June 2002 Can anyone else confirm this? If so, could this bug be closed?
Yes, confirming this site is working well. Using WinXP and build 2002061106 Mark it as resolved fixed. Reporter: feel free to reopen it if you encounter any problem.
