Reported by Apple. TITLE: [Korean IM]: KH: macOS 10.13: Pressing Enter after typing Korean characters in the search box of Firefox does not work at the first try INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Add Korean Keyboard to Input Method 2. Launch Firefox 3. Go to a website which has a search box (e.g. www.naver.com) 4. Type any word in the search box in Korean 5. Press Enter ACTUAL RESULTS: Firefox does not show any response and the cursor in the search box still keeps blinking. However, the search works fine when pressing Enter once again. This does not occur with a searching word in English NOTES: This does not occur in Safari and Chrome Clicking the magnifier icon next to the search box works fine. (Search box of some websites does not have a magnifier icon. e.g. Google) It is reproduced in all the websites on which I tested. Tested on many poplar searching engines, such as www.naver.com www.yahoo.com www.twitter.com www.bing.com www.google.com REGRESSION: Issue doesn't occur in US English Also happens in macOS 10.12.3 build 16D32 *DIAGNOSIS Looks like a Firefox issue. It was working on version 49.0 and broke after updating to 54.0.1.

Sigh, it means that they changed IME behavior again! We need to be careful about changing the behavior because we *did* change the behavior for Sierra. See bug 1312649 and bug 1358958, some IMEs on macOS changed the behavior by client application, and I asked the reason of this fact to Apple, but they ignored my asking (stopped discussing it).

Looking at the overlap of Korean users and Mac usage, this won't be material, but it'd be good to know regression window so we can validate whether there was an impact.

I'll try talking with our contacts at apple. Sounds like it may not be our regression but maybe we can work around it.

Masayuki, if this is an IME bug, does that mean it applies to Japanese / Chinese, or is it just Korean?

Not sure about Chinese, but perhaps not applied to Japanese since Enter key is usually used for committing composition if there is. So, while there is composition of Japanese IME, Enter key press shouldn't be handled by application.

Well, I installed High Sierra Beta into my MBP, but I cannot reproduce this bug with Beta nor Nightly, but I can reproduce this on Release. So, I bet that this is a dup of bug 1358958. And also this is not related to High Sierra.
