When Google Drive has a Word Doc stored in it, attempting to convert it to a Google Doc (a right click option and the preferred method of dealing with Msft Word Docs), the conversion simply "spins" due to the popup Blocker.

Hitting "Allow" on the popup blocker simply returns the user to the previous page (a Back Button command).

This is repeatable every time while it works perfectly in Chrome by properly converting the file to a Google Docs file.

Jim, does the message go away and the conversion work if you disable popup blocking from the "Content" preferences?

Dave, is there a specific bug component for the RefreshBlocker module, or the popup blocker in general?

Paolo - NO.   I've disabled popup blocking and it still DOES NOT convert.   Strange behavior though in that it does not ERROR out or just spin.  Rather, the page just refreshes to the previous page AS IF Nightly believes it converted it?

Only on MAC.   Apparently per Asa it converts on Windows.

OK, given the above, considering that the cause of the issue is not necessarily in the front-end, I'm moving this to the Web Compatibility component for further investigation.

I'm afraid that I can't reproduce the issue. Not on OSX 10.12.5 nor Linux (both with today's nightly and 54.0.1 stable).

I tried several sample .doc and .docx I found online, including small and large ones (like the ones at http://www.sample-videos.com/download-sample-doc-file.php). Google Drive said it was unable to convert a 5mb file, but the 2mb one worked after a short wait.

I wonder if this has to do with specific types of Word documents, or is somehow a Firefox profile issue.

Jim, would you minding checking if any of the sample documents at the link I noted in this comment also convert for you, or if a fresh Firefox profile has the issue?
