After updating to 55.0b7 (32-bit) on Windows 10, the icon in the Windows 10 taskbar is a generic "piece of paper" icon. Not sure what could cause this, so this may be the wrong place to file this.

Andrei, did your team see something like this when testing b7? Can you reproduce?
Flags: needinfo?(andrei.vaida)
This is actually handled after update by the installer code so fixing component https://dxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/source/browser/installer/windows/nsis/shared.nsh#5
Component: Application Update → Installer
Product: Toolkit → Firefox
Could this be related to bug 1375472? It's the only change I recall in the installer in 55.0b7.

(In reply to Julien Cristau [:jcristau] from comment #2) > Andrei, did your team see something like this when testing b7? Can you > reproduce? Hi Julien, I couldn't reproduce this issue on Windows 10 x86 Version 1703 (OS Build 15063.14). I've updated a few Beta builds to 55.0b7 (downloaded as .exe from https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/candidates/) but the Firefox icon was displayed correctly in taskbar every time it was updated. Below is a list of all the Beta builds I used in order to reproduce this: - 55.0b6-candidates/build1/win32/en-US updated to 55.0b7 - 55.0b6-candidates/build1/win32/ar/ updated to 55.0b7 - 55.0b1-candidates/build5/win32/en-US/ updated to 55.0b7 - 55.0b1-candidates/build5/win32/de/ updated to 55.0b7 - 54.0b13-candidates/build1/win32/en-US/ updated to 55.0b7 - 54.0b13-candidates/build1/win32/he/ updated to 55.0b7 - 54.0b9-candidates/build1/win32/en-US/ updated to 55.0b7 - 54.0b9-candidates/build1/win32/es-MX/ updated to 55.0b7 Please let me know if I can help with more info here!

Thanks Ciprian. Can you also check on a fresh install?

This morning, some time after waking my laptop, the icon returned. Maybe explorer restarted? I haven't yet updated from 55.0b7, which suggests the issue is either transient in b7, or is a bug in Windows not in Firefox.

I'm not aware of any other changes in 55.0b7 either. I'm not sure there's anything do be done about this unless we start getting more widespread reports.

We never got any more widespread reports.
