[Affected versions]: Firefox 56.0a1 (Build Id:20170712100301) Firefox 55.0b8 (Build Id: 20170710155419) Firefox 54.0.1 (Build Id: 20170628145605) [Affected platforms]: Ubuntu 16.04 64bit. [Steps to reproduce]: 1. Launch Firefox with a clean profile. 2. Access the https://9gag.com/gag/am29MAj weblink. 3. Drag the image to desktop. [Expected result]: The image is successfully downloaded to the desktop. [Actual result]: An “unknown link” file is created. [Regression range]: This doesn’t seems to be a regression. [Additional notes] Please note that an “Could not display” error is displayed when trying to open the created file. Manually adding the relevant extension (.jpg in the case of the 9gag image you referenced) makes the file usable. Interesting that a link is created on linux. I'll see if I can investigate this soon.
