User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:54.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/54.0 Build ID: 20170613080547 Steps to reproduce: Open FF preferences and check option "Open new windows in a new tab instead. " Use this URL in the first tab "chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul" to display FF Library. Locate a URL in the first tab library and double click. Actual results: The first tab displaying the FF Library is overwritten by the clicked URL Expected results: FF should create a new tab and load the clicked URL in the new tab and leave the Library tab unchanged. If select a URL from the FF Library in the first tab and right click to present the context menu then select the Open in new tab menu item it works a prescribed. This should be the way it works if I just double click with the Open preference checked.

Summary: when the Preference under General "Open windows in a new tab instead" is checked the new URL loads over the current tab → when the Preference under General "Open windows in a new tab instead" is checked the new URL loads over the current tab when opening a url from the library
I think it's right. Open item from Library window will open it on current tab. The context menu also show Open instead of Open in new tab menu item as bold.
Severity: normal → S3
