Neither Apple-A nor Ctrl-A selects all search results. I cannot use shift-End either

Details

After searching for a string in a large inbox, I get about 2800 results back (this is cleaning time :-). I can select a few with shift plus navigation keys, but I cannot select them all with Apple-A or Ctrl-A. I ended up with shift-pgdown and a bit of patience. You may want to fix this. It is just a - hey, They missed this - thing.
