Steps to reproduce:

1. Go to about:config#browser.bookmarks.showRecentlyBookmarked and set the value to False.

2. Open your favorites list.


Actual results:

Recently bookmarked websites show up


Expected results:

Due to the preference, recently bookmarked websites should not show up

Not only that, but it seems that recently bookmarked entries are all that show up. My sorted menus of bookmarks are not shown at all.

I think this is effectively a duplicate of bug 1377968. The bookmarks view in the library would be pretty pointless if it didn't show your recent bookmarks, so the preference doesn't apply to it (but still applies to the toplevel bookmarks menu, I expect).

If you want your sorted menus of bookmarks from the toolbar (rather than using the toplevel menubar), re-add the bookmarks menu to your toolbar. It's no longer part of the default set, but you're free to add it back from customize mode.
