1. Download Cookie AutoDelete (it has open_in_tab: true)
2. See that it has no way to open the options in a new tab (picture in the thread)

Other people on the discourse thread have confirmed this as well.

There should be at least an options button somewhere that will open the options in a new tab.

Hi Kenny,
Thanks for filing this issue on bugzilla, I definitely agree that with "open_in_tab: true" there should be a button which opens the options page in a tab (as it happens on Firefox for Desktop), I'm marking this as a duplicate of Bug 1364945, where I'm working on fixing `runtime.openOptionsPage` and I'm going to introduce a fix and a new test for this one as well in the next version of that set of changes.
