One of the advantage of ɴᴘᴀᴘɪ plugins is it allowed to run access the host’s native graphics ᴀᴘɪs.

This allowed to perform open source quad buffering rendering or access things like Nvidia 3ᴅ vision proprietary technology.
Both are required to output images effectively on displays with a stereoscopic feature.

And this was required for reading stereoscopic video images formats or even just display stereoscopic pictures.

So for years, I used https://wiki.videolan.org/SoC_2011/Stereoscopic_Video through the the ᴠʟᴄ plugin, but the future removal of ɴᴘᴀᴘɪ.

And as a ɴᴘᴀᴘɪ plugin this worked cross browsers ! (as well as on Opera and Safari).

But since you’re deprecating ɴᴘᴀᴘɪ (and thus require a plugin to be rewritten for each different browser) and there’s no web standards : please provide a Firefox’s Extension alternative for Direct Vulkan or Openɢl access !

It’s a shame that now all consumer ɢᴘᴜs support quad buffering rendering (with the advent of Nvidia Pascal) the possibility to read stereoscopic content through the feature of capable displays goes away !
So in order to continue to use https://wiki.videolan.org/SoC_2011/Stereoscopic_Video after ᴇꜱʀ, I would have to switch to something like Midori, or even keep a vulnerable version of FireFox instead of upgrading like what I’m doing for Opera.

If providing a stereoscopic rendering ᴀᴘɪ for extensions isn’t an option, please at least support stereoscopic rendering of common video formats (and by making the feature usable on compatible displays)
