13930 - Need way to change max messages download via Account Setup

There is no way to change the maximum number of messages downloaded in
newsgroups right now via the prefUI. You used to be able to do it in 4.x in the
Newsgroup Servers pref pane.

Apparently the default# is 50, which is fine, but I migrated my profile over
where I had 2500 set, and that takes like 5 minutes on my wimpy machine :-)

And yes, I know how to change it manually now, thanks Seth :-)

changing summary to reflect that the ui for this is not in the prefs window, but
in the account manager window.

ok, the UI is now there.  the pref for max_articles used to be global.  it is
now configurable per server.  (I also added UI and backend support for the old
"news.notify.on", "news.notify.size" and "news.mark_old_read".)

if you used -installer to migrate before 9-16, you should migrate again.
(remove you Users50 and your mozilla registry before you do that, though.)

by running -installer again, your old "news.max_articles" value will be used to
set the "mail.server.server*.max_articles" pref.  this is the pref that you can
change from the account manager.

if you don't want to re-run -installer, you can hand edit your prefs, and add
"mail.server.server*.max_articles" to your news server.

(note * is not literal.  * will be a number, like 1, 2, 3, etc)

to try it:

launch mail.
go to Edit | Account Setup...
and find the server prefs for a news server.

if you experience problems with the account manager, you aren't alone.

there are several (new) bugs with the Account Manager, and I'm going to log them
/ work on them now.

Used 10-08-12-M11 for all the platforms:

I only see the entry field for input the download messages number, but didn't
see the title and numbers changed effectively for this entry field. Can you tell
me the other bugs# if you already log bugs? Thanks.

Karen - you can search for bugs reported by sspitzer around a certain time
period to see if you can see those bugs reported.  I can show you how to do this
:-)

Used 10-13-09-M11 build/all platforms:

I believe that something wrong for the account setup.
It used to display the "max download msg" entry field from the account setup
even without title yet, but this build is worse than the previous build.
Marked Regression.

Karen - you may want to wait for bug
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16303 to be fixed before you reopen
this bug.  There is a general problem with Account Setup, it seems.

Build 10-15-12-M11/all platforms:

Since the "Ask download msg" already displayed on the UI, so I will passed for
this bug verification. But please see further enhancement bug#16568 for
performing the functionality regarding to the download newsgroup msgs.
