steps to reproduce:

1. open http://www.br-online.de/wissenschaft/spacenight/video.html
2. left mouseclick on video "Schwerelosigkeit"

expected result: video will be performed by RealPlayer

actual result: yo see open a window in the backgroud quite a little moment, then
  - sometimes error-message (C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\'some_file'    not found)
  - normally: nothing

Works with NN4.7, IE6, OPERA

I believe we had somethin similar with an additional securety/privacy(?) -
problem in an earlier bug, but I cannot find it, so that I decided to report
this bug

do u have nppl3260.dll in plugins folder? There is a bug right now that makes 
realplayer not to work if the nppl files are in components folder. pls check , 
thx.

confirmed..I see this for winamp as well. The external players do not open at 
all. used branch 0423 build winNT

How odd, the above referenced site will not launch, but when I tested 
http://technet.oracle.com/idevelop/online/courses/oln/getting_started.html I 
have no problems. Launching the referenced plug-in from an opened Real8 window 
also works fine. As stated, Opera launches fine as well.

Adding Peter and assigning to AV, not sure exactly what happened in the past 24 
hours to make this happen.

Sounds real similar to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133751

I think something could possibly be up with helper applications.

Does this still happen for everybody? It works for me on the todays new branch
and on the trunk. As a helper app that is.

rainer: we don't really use a 'closed' state, verified is about as far as things go. bugs will move occasionally as the world realigns, even if the bugs are dead.
