Build ID: 20170815231002

Steps to reproduce:

I tried to paste text

Actual results:

it replaced the previous word/char

Expected results:

it should have pasted the text without replacing anything at all
(default android behavior afaik)

Where and how to reproduce? Where do you "replace" text when you are on which web site?
This report needs clearer steps that allow someone else to reproduce the problem.

ups, I just learned how to actually paste text correctly.

up until now I pressed and held my finger at the position, that I wanted to add text to.
Then it marked the next word and showed the text selection menu, which only allowed me to replace the marked word.

the right way would've been to touch the input field once, move the selection marker/arrow, that has appeared then, and then touch the input once again (at the same position as the arrow)

For some reason I've done this wrong for years.

I never thought that a second touch could change the result, so I never tried :/

I'll leave this open for now

Yes. Touching the selection handler (aka the caret) will make the the paste menu shown.
