Whenever I visit a MDN page the content appears in spanish.

The spanish in the page is terrible, so I immediately switch to the english version.

This has become annoying, as I have to switch to the english version every single time.

My firefox browser already specifies that I prefer english to spanish, so I don't see a reason why you're forcing me to read MDN documentation in spanish. If my browser tells you I prefer english, why do you keep showing me the spanish version?

do you mean this URL shows you Spanish page?
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/MDN/Feedback

or when you visit MDN page with certain way, it's a URL for Spanish?
if latter, how do you reach MDN page?

maybe from search engine?
there were a case that search engine lists localized page.

Ah, yes, it seems this is related to the search engine.

Sorry for the trouble.

Maybe is there a way to automatically redirect to the proper language attending to browser preferences?

From MDN's perspective, a locale in the URL has to win. If the search engine sends you to the Spanish URL, we'll show Spanish. The best we could do would be a banner that links you to the English version, to save one click over the locale dropdown. I'm not sure if the extra UI is worth the complication.

We have "locale-less" URLs, like https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/MDN/Feedback, that redirect you based on your browser language preferences. We're working on a cookie-based solution to override the Accept-Language header logic in bug 1331729. This will not help if the search engine sends you to a Spanish URL.

It may be possible to write a web extension that redirects to the English page, overriding the locale setting. However, there may be restrictions on web extensions that work on *.mozilla.org domains, so it may take some discussion to make an exception. I haven't looked into authoring web extensions, or the restrictions.

Too bad the cookie solution can't redirect to the english version :-(. I'd love to store a setting and be redirected automatically to the english version.

The fact is that I'm loading the spanish page from your servers and then I *always* go to the english one, so I download twice from your servers.
configuring the search engine to list english pages is a quick workaround, until this somehow gets fixed.
since the essential issue here is that search engine lists unexpected page for you.
(if it's google, search setting has language section, and choosing english will list english pages for MDN too)
Yep. I've switched to duckduckgo.com, that does not require a login :-)

I think you can close the issue if you want, I'll keep an eye on the bug 1331729.

Thanks,
Antonio
