I think it's safe to say that Ed was able to continue using Firefox after this.
Ed, please feel free to re-open this bug when you encounter this problem again! I'd really appreciate as much detail you can provide as possible. Thanks!

I have isolated the problem to using CCleaner v.5.35.6210 (64bit). Upon having CC automatically clean Firefox upon closing the browser the problem occurs. The next time I open Firefox I get the message:
Well, this is embarrassing.
Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.
You can try:
Removing one or more tabs that you think may be causing the problem
Starting an entirely new browsing session
When I have CClean NOT monitor the browser and clean it upon closing I DO NOT get the message and the browser opens to my correct home page. SO the issue is that CC deletes something in the "cleaning" process that causes Firefox to try and restore the previous session which it is unable to do and I get the error message.
Hope this helps as you probably need to check the cleaning process of CC as the issue apparently is NOT with Firefox.
I continue to use Firefox without cleaning the browser upon closing it and have no further problem. However, I find that even though I have "DO NOT TRACK" checked, Firefox apparently does track me (adrt.com, embedly.com, wurfl.io, www.i.matheranalytics.com) and many, many cookies that I like to immediately delete. I now do that by running another program (SuperANTISPYWARE).
Dr. Ed.
