This URL returns Alert Message : "www.perso.wanadoo could not be found. Please check the name and try again". "www." is added to the typed URL and doesn't allow to go to that address.
http://perso.wanadoo can't be found either - nor can http://www.perso.wanadoo/francois.jarlov However: if you add the domain - .fr - it is found - also without the www part. I don't think Mozilla can or should guess national top-level domains. It would take a lot of time and generate a lot of unwanted traffic. MSIE returns a "Page can not be found" error when attempting to load the url. Resolving as invalid.

mozilla prepends www. if not already there after a DNS failure and then retries. this is consistent with nav4x.
Catching up. If this is still a problem, please reopen bug. Thanks! Marking Verified.
