Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:58.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/58.0
Build ID: 20171015100127

Steps to reproduce:

Open a large .PDF file mine is (137,598,198 bytes) in 58.0a1 (2017-10-15) (64-bit) on Windows 10.

Actual results:

Firefox quickly consume all the remaining ram, using all the cpu and consuming all the hard drive I/O (100% usage in everything) killing the pc leading to a Blue Screen sometimes. Sometimes it hangs for minutes until it finish loading the file and freeing all the resources it was using.

Expected results:

The PDF should open as normal.

I suspect that it's the same issue as in bug #1410381, so I'm duping it there.
Reopen if it's not.

Could you please try to reproduce the issue on Firefox 56 (stable version) and on Firefox 57 (beta version)?

@Virtual_ManPL i opened with Stable 56, and it used all I/O (100% HDD almost 15MB/s) but that's normal opening a 130mb PDF.

Tested with latest (today's update and still use all ram within seconds.) Should i upload the pdf I'm using for you to test?

Some tests i made with the affected version: 58.0a1 (2017-10-29) (64-bit)

Opening a 50mb PDF, the ram went from 90mb to 700mb and then to 300mb with the pdf fully open.
Opening a 5mb PDF, the ram went from 10mb to 250mb then to 50mb with the pdf fully open.
Opening a 28mb PDF, the ram went from 40 to 625mb then to 240mb with the pdf fully open.

Will update with the tests in beta 57.0b12

Here's the test with Firefox 57 beta.

Opening the file used 400mb~700mb of ram, when it finished loading it went up to 990mb. When scrolling it started to use more and more ram until it reaches 3gb, i stopped there, because i was at 97% ram usage. It doesn't use high CPU, but while scrolling the ram was eaten very fast.

Thank you very much for confirming!

There is no need to upload this big file, there are much smaller ones in main bug and even in its dupes.

Looks like your issue is the same as mine in bug #1410381,
looking on regression range (Firefox versions) and on symptoms.
