Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0
Build ID: 20171019140425
Steps to reproduce:
Use the Firefox 57 beta 10, visit www.marketwatch.com, click one of the story links, pretend to read it (scroll down a little bit), then hit the back button once, and it does not return to the previous page. Hit the back button again, now it returns to the previous page.
The issue was not there in Firefox 57 beta 8, but shows up in beta 9 and beta 10.

Hi Wenqing,
We are unable to reproduce this, wondering if you have any addons installed. Can you try with safe mode to see if you still have the issue?

Yes you're right! I tried the safe mode and the issue went away.
As I added only uBlock Origin (all other plugin or extensions are carried in by Firefox itself), I tried to disable
uBlock Origin and tested again. Sure enough, the issue did not happen.
So the problem is at the uBlock Origin, not Firefox. Please close this bug. Thanks a lot for looking into the issue!

new finding -
Firefox 57, without any new extensions. In the privacy preferences find the section of "tracking protection". Change the setting to "always" (default option is "only in private windows"). Close the preferences setting tab.
Visit www.marketwatch.com, click on one of the links (if the link opens a new tab, close the new tab and click another link, until you get a link that opens in the same tab). Pretend to read it for a few seconds, then click the back button of the browser. The page would not go back. Click the back button again, and the page goes back.
So this is not due to uBlock Origin or any other plugins. This is within FF57. The default tracking protection setting ("only in private windows") works fine (suppose you're not in a private window). But the "always" option would expose this issue.
Thus can you please reopen this bug (as I could not find a way to do that myself). Thanks ...

Thanks for coming back with more information.
This seems an issue with tracking protection, so I am moving the component there. Feel free to reset the module if I am wrong.

I've tested the issue and was not able to reproduce it anymore while Tracking Protection Basic or Strict is enabled (Trackers>Always block).
[Tested with:]
Browser / Version: Firefox Nightly 63.0a1 (2018-08-09)
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro
@Wenqing Jiang or Wenqing Jiang can you still reproduce the issue?

Yes the issue is no more in my tests using Firefox 61.0.2. Please close this ticket. Thanks.
The long-lived bug (starting from #1022643 4 years ago) is finally no more. Woohoo!
