This would provide consistency with other Windows 10 apps, as well as Firefox on macOS which has a similar effect called Vibrancy, recently enabled in bug 1377284.
The Fall Creators Update has started implementing Fluent Design in various places, and acrylic is frequently seen in the title bars of apps and notably, the tab bar in Edge.

Care should be taken to respect user settings for acrylic. It should be disabled when the "Transparency effects" setting is disabled, when the window does not have focus, and when battery saver is enabled.

Unfortunately Acrylic is only available to UWP apps (That use XAML), the APIs needed aren't exposed any other way.

See Bug 1162562. If we ever get to UWP, this is definitely a feature that should be added.
