As indicated by Sebastian in bug 1392538 comment 10, we don't plan to revive these for the foreseeable future, especially now that we've got the scrolling URL bar that puts the focus on the base domain.
Somebody else needs to handle any server-side change for Switchboard/Kinto that might be necessary.
