since a couple of days i get an occasional (rare) black background in the address bar which goes away once you hover over it.

the first build where i started noticing this was 58.0a1 20171026221945. these were the patches landing just before that: https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?startdate=2017-10-26&tochange=aa958b29c149a67fce772f8473e9586e71fbdb46

I could not reproduce the issue on Windows 10 x64, Ubuntu 14.04 x64 and Mac 10.12.6, with the latest Nightly (58.0a1) build, however I think that this issue is related to bug 1409871, which created a number of similar issue. And those issues were fixed by bug 1412150.
Could you please retest this issue on latest Nightly build and see if it is reproducible to see if my hunch is correct?

thank you, i think your hunch is a very good one. i haven't had the issue in yesterday's nightly that included bug 1412150 - since it's somewhat intermittent and i don't have a particular way to reproduce it, i will monitor it for a few more days and close as WFM if the problem doesn't reappear.

haven't had the issue crop up in the past few days anymore, so i would consider it fixed.
