Does it happen if you start the browser in safe mode? https://support.mozilla.org/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
Do you have the Clear History on shutdown option enabled?
Does it happen if you hide the Bookmarks toolbar?

The "Stop Script" notification has not happened recently, however, since then the browser has consistently frozen up (e.g. a live page will go blank and I will only see a spinning gear, and can only fix it by force quitting). Having seen your suggestions, I've restarted in safe mode and hidden the bookmarks toolbar, and so far so good, but will continue to monitor it (have not yet restarted post-safe mode).

For now I'm resolving because there's not enough information for us to debug the problem, please reopen if you can provide a list of steps to reproduce the problem in Safe Mode.
