New tab page not completely blank even with all boxes unchecked

Details

With all of the checkboxes to customize the new tab page unchecked, the page is *almost* blank, except that it has a Firefox logo in the upper left corner, which highlights on hover. I haven't found any preference to disable or hide this icon. Given that this shows up on every "ctrl-t" to open a new tab, I find this quite distracting.
