Steps to reproduce:

Switch to private browsing. Download any files. Close the firefox and open firefox


Actual results:

In normal window goto download and you will see items downloaded in private window


Expected results:

The previous version of firefox will not show the downloaded items in private browsing

I was unable to reproduce this in Firefox 57, 58, or 59. In a new profile on each, I:

1. Opened a private browsing window
2. Downloaded Firefox from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=firefox-com
3. Closed Firefox
4. Opened Firefox
5. Opened Tools -> Downloads (Cmd-J on Mac)

I never saw the Firefox 57.0.dmg listed in the downloads.


Can you be more specific:

* What was the download?
* What exactly do you mean by "In normal window goto download"?

My Firefox was installed with Video Download Helper. Opened Youtube video in private browsing. Downloaded a music video which is a mp4 file. Closed firefox and started firefox in normal mode which is not private browsing. Gave Ctrl+J and I see the mp4 file that I downloaded in private browsing.

Thanks for the info aswin. It looks like this is already filed with Video Download Helper and they are working on a patch:
