User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.11; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0
Build ID: 20171112125346
Steps to reproduce:
Go to https://w3id.org/assocations and watch the intro animation in firefox ...
Try different window sizes. Also try moving the window to a second monitor with a high resolution.
Specs:
Firefox 57.0 (64-bit)
Mac OS X 10.11.6
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB
Actual results:
Performance is miserable, sometimes as low as 1 frame every 4 seconds, especially when opening the window in full size on a 2560x1600 px external monitor. Performance on the built-in retina display is better, but i'd say it's still only 1 FPS.
Expected results:
fancy schmancy lag free animation
In the attached video, i first show the result in Chrome to prove that "it's possible". It has always been faster than FF as reported in bug 1201115 etc. a long time ago. However, after opening my page in the recent release, i'm pretty shocked :-/ When switching to firefox and trying to reload, you'll notice kind of a long wait. That's cause the interface does not react at all. Also note how scroll events (that should be received by the full size div) sometimes advance the window instead of zooming into the graph.
yay, can't edit... https://w3id.org/associations and can't attach a .mov video recording...
video is here... https://joernhees.de/dump/ffd3.mov
if someone can, feel free to edit the link and upload the already mov file so it stays available
