Steps to reproduce:

When opening a new tab in quantum, I used to be able to single click the URL and it would highlight the entire URL.  


Actual results:

The cursor just places where you clicked and doesnt highlight the entire url.


Expected results:

It would usually highlight the entire URL

This seem to work for me but I'm unsure what do you exactly mean with "new tab".
I right click on the top left "Home" link in this bug report, selected "Open link in new tab", switched to that tab and left clicked on the URL in the URL bar. 
Result: The whole URL is marked.

Hi, I'm happy to walk you through it.  When you click a new tab the cursor is already in the URL field, so if you click off onto the webpage it will then highlight when you click on the URL field.  Previously the focus in previous firefox the cursor wouldn't be in the URL address bar, then if you clicked it the first time it would highlight the entire URL.  I can do a webex with you if you want.

The cursor is not in the URL field in a new tab, at least on my system with Firefox57.
Do you have addons installed ?

Can you try it in the Firefox safmode ?

Hi thanks I think you are right, I searched the add on tab and found that he has a bug for this open already.  You can close or link this one then.

Please note, I am aware of the problem of the cursor being placed in the location / URL bar, at the start of the URL. I have filed bug 1411465 for this issue, which needs a Firefox / API fix. Unless anyone has any bright ideas, it seems I can't do much about this from the add-on right now.
