User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0
Build ID: 20171123171849

Steps to reproduce:

I was searching on google:
https://www.google.nl/search?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&q=mount+with+noatime+option&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Google in Firefox gave me as first result this link:
ftp://ftp.iitb.ac.in/LDP/en/solrhe/chap6sec73.html

Actual results:

Following that link I got weird pop-ups showing:
`550 Failed to change directory.`

These pop-ups look like rogue script alerts.

Expected results:

I think the pop-ups should not be looking like normal script alerts, when they are Firefox warnings. As I can see there not driven by Javascript on that page..

It is import to understand I was just following the first search link on Google and not doing FTP browsing by purpose.

Related bug and context:

There is a older bug, seems to be a won't fix bug:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=271923

But that is related to FTP context, but as ist seems in real world that is a thin line. Therefore IMHO the pop-ups lack a certain standard and are not user friendly at all.

Thanks for reporting this.
However, as Bug 271923 Comment 6 said, only critical bugs (like crash) on FTP will be fixed.
