Persian has 2 plural forms according to CLDR http://www.unicode.org/cldr/charts/dev/supplemental/language_plural_rules.html#fa But Firefox and Firefox for Android are set to use the plural form 0, which means no plural forms (like Chinese). Basically, the noun never changes depending when it follows a cardinal number. Translate House has 2 forms like CLDR http://docs.translatehouse.org/projects/localization-guide/en/latest/l10n/pluralforms.html In case, several strings need to be reviewed and updated after correcting the plural form.
@Arash Can you help?

Persian plural forms are depending on context. The noun does not change when the sentence is plural but the verb does. So when the sentence does not have a verb, we don't need two forms, but when it does we need them. For instance, there is no difference in translating "2 hours ago" and "1 hour ago" in Persian, but "1 notification is available" and "2 notifications are available" are different when translating. Generally I set the plural forms to 2, and then if the sentence does not need two forms, I just copy the translation over to both.

The problem is that Firefox is set to only use one of those two (the first one). https://transvision.mozfr.org/?recherche=addonConfirmInstall.message&repo=gecko_strings&sourcelocale=en-US&locale=fa&search_type=strings_entities This will be used این سایت تمایل به نصب افزونه بر روی #1 دارد: This will never be used این سایت تمایل به نصب #2 افزونه بر روی #1 دارد: At this point I think we should change the rule in Firefox. If we follow CLDR, we need the same rule as French: 0 is singular 1 is singular any other number is plural Does that make sense?
There's still no difference in singular and plural translation of the string you mentioned in Persian, but this one needs different translation for plural form: https://transvision.mozfr.org/?sourcelocale=en-US&locale=fa&repo=gecko_strings&search_type=entities&recherche=browser/chrome/browser/browser.properties:addonsInstalled&entire_string=entire_string It makes sense to change the number of plural forms though.
OK, can you confirm that the "French" rule is correct? Following your example above: In English: 0 notifications are available 1 notification is available 2 notifications are available etc. In Persian, the first two would be identical (0 identical to 1), then 2 and all other numbers with a different form?
Yes, that's correct.
I switched to rule #2. I'll check in about 10 minutes if there are still errors related to the number of plural forms.
