Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0 Build ID: 20171128222554 Steps to reproduce: Enter a search term into the search bar, and press Enter. Actual results: Firefox shows a page with this content: Restore your search settings? Your search settings might be out-of-date. Firefox can help you restore the default search settings. This will set your default search engine to Google You can change these settings at any time from the Settings page. Expected results: Firefox searches for my search term. Basically, that should never have happened. It's completely unclear why that page was displayed, and whether it will ever be displayed again if I click "Don't change".
Search is working again, no idea why.

This sounds like bug 1419941, although that bug was fixed in 57.0.1, not 57.0, which is what your user agent shows in your original comment. See especially the first and second comments in that bug. Was your previous default engine installed by an add-on or third party?

I haven't had that problem since 4 months ago, and seeing as it sounds like a bug that was fixed in 57.0.1, I will close this issue. I can always open a new one if there is ever a problem again. Thanks for your time.
