Ok this is a bit hard to explain, but here we go. Follow the following steps:

Open a newsserver, select a newsgroup and create a new message.
Now navigate to a mail folder, and after that close the mail window.
Wait one or two minutes
Now try to send the message.

Mozilla gives a "unknown error occured while sending message" error.

Now re-open the newsserver (expand it's groups is enough if mozilla fetches the
current unread count.

Hit send again on the message. All is well.
Please always include the Mozilla build ID in bugæ-reports.
ohh sorry, i always do that, but seem to have forgotten it this time... this was
in 200205308 win2k
This worksforme with build 2002-05-17 on Windows 2000 (RC2 branch, 1.0). Can
you try this again?
still wrong here... are you sure the connection with the news server was broken?
(try unplugging your network, and reconnecting or something to make sure).
Confirmed with 2002061104, WinXP
Although a different error message is now shown

Is bug 171743 a dup of this one?
No it is not.
I'm also getting this behaviour with Mozilla 1.2.1 on Linux, so it's
not just a Win2000 bug (as in the OS above).
