User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0
Build ID: 20171112125346
Steps to reproduce:
Use Firefox in private mode (Never remember history), "Add search bar in toolbar" rather than a single bar.
Enter any address (e.g. mozilla.org) onto the URL bar. Delete entered text, enter another address.
Actual results:
The previously entered address can be seen at a glance.
Expected results:
The above should be absent as observed before version 57 (< 57)

EDIT: Also affects my other machine running Firefox 57.0.4
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0
Build ID: 20180103231032
Managed to reproduce the issue using Firefox 57.0.4
1.Open Firefox 57.0.4 with a new profile
2.Open New private window
3.Type any address in the URL bar
4.Select the address entered in step 2 and delete it
5.Type another address into URL bar
Actual result: I can see the previously entered address for ~1 second.
The issue is reproducible also on the latest Nightly (2018-01-11) and Firefox Beta 58.0b16.

I can't seem to reproduce this without more details ...
Brendon:
When you enter the address in the url bar, did you press "Enter/Return" to actually visit the address, or did you just type it?
roxana:
On step 3, did you press "Enter/Return" to actually visit the address, or do you just type it?
On Step 4, did you delete the address from the url bar, or from the drop-down of auto-fill options?

If I understand correctly, I have reproduced the issue with the following steps:
* open a new private window
* visit castlezzt.net and wait for it to load
* select the URL in the url bar, delete it
* start typing random letters
As long as I am continuously typing random letters, there is a search entry for castlezzt.net that remains in the suggestions dropdown. When I pause, it disappears. I can also reproduce this with a non-private window. There's no extra risk associated with the private window displaying this data, so I'm going to move this to a more appropriate component.
Component: Private Browsing → Address Bar

just type the address, without actually visit

I deleted the address from the url bar ( select/highlight the address and delete it)

All the above are correct so far.
Thanks

We don't immediately remove previous search entries from the popup to avoid flickering, there's no long term risk, apart from an over the shoulder viewer, but then the privacy risks are far higher... bug 1291927 is tracking the problem.
