I stumbled upon this issue as well - and I understand it is being worked on.
In the meantime, I am trying to keep "my console clean"
And I am struggeling to really "catch" the error that is being shown in console when this case is happening
Neither try/catch nor then/catch seems to be able to supress the error warnings in the console.
Am I missing a point? Or is this even intended?

I am still facing the same issue - looks like it has not been fixed yet.
I was also trying to gracefully catch this error and prevent it from appearing on the console. As Peter mentioned try/catch and then/catch does not seem to work. Any pointers?
And was also thinking if there is a work around for this issue? Is there a way we can still make the Service Worker function correctly with the setting "keep until I close firefox" is on?

We are experiencing the same problem. We are monitoring errors that our users are experiencing and this is by far the most frequent one. Presumably the more restricted cookie setting has become more common due to privacy plugins in firefox.
A workaround to resolve this issue/to properly handled this case would be appreciated.

@Ben can we use https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1413615 you mentioned 2 years ago "Its now possible to work on this bug" so i was wondering why this was closed

I don't work on firefox any more. I again recommend filing a new bug rather than trying to re-open a years-old bug.

Why did you mark this as resolved when it has not been resolved? Surely that will confuse people? It's also not a duplicate of https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1400678

I am seeing this issue recently when I use https://stackblitz.com/angular/krrbqgvybgj?file=src%2Fapp%2Fsidenav-overview-example.ts. Followings are the error:
- Failed to register/update a ServiceWorker for scope ‘https://krrbqgvybgj.angular.stackblitz.io/’: Storage access is restricted in this context due to user settings or private browsing mode. relay-3e7319607bab4314b69db.js:1:2219
- Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: The operation is insecure. relay-3e7319607bab4314b69db.js:1
- Requesting search results.. search_results.js:1:9
- Failed to get service worker registration(s): Storage access is restricted in this context due to user settings or private browsing mode. relay-3e7319607bab4314b69db.js:1:1550
- Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: The operation is insecure. relay-3e7319607bab4314b69db.js:1
There is no "Keep until I close firefox" but:
- Delete cookies and site data when Nightly is closed
- Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed
They are not check marked in both nightly(90.0a1) and stable(88). So I don't even know what setting the error messages are referring to.

(In reply to Ben Kelly [:bkelly, not reviewing] from comment #19)

I've created a new bug here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1755167
