From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.0rc1) Gecko/20020417
BuildID:
I obtain lots of numeric data from web pages such as the one above. The
provider of this page and many many others I use does not provide an option for
spreadsheet or flat file download. Instead, they publish in html tables. Using
old versions of Netscape (4.75 for example), I can save this page as a txt file
and open it in my spreadsheet (123) and it will parse almost perfectly cleanly.
In Mozilla (and later Netscape), this same page cannot be saved as a cleanly
parsing txt file.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to http://mo.works.state.mo.us/lmi/owa/adb.laus_monthly_data
2. File / Save page as / Save as type: txt file / Filename: whatever.txt
Actual Results: 3. Open whatever.txt in Lotus 123.
4. In Txt file parsing options window: select Automatically parse based on file
layout.
4. File will open with data messed up and requiring substantial manipulation to
be usable.
Expected Results: Mozilla should save a page as a txt file the way Netscape
4.75 does, i.e. , numeric data from a page such as this one will parse cleanly
when opened in a spreadsheet. Don't tell me to use Microsoft Excel.
