User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0 Build ID: 20180104170325 Steps to reproduce: 1. Navigated to about:addons -> Plugins -> "OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc" 2. By disabling "OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc", using youtube.com, to watch any video, the sound is a lot better. 3. By enabling back "OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc", using youtube.com, to watch any video, the sound is horrible. Actual results: The sound is much different between enabling and disabling "OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc". Expected results: I have been seeing this plugin "OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc" for as long as I remember. I think Firefox should remove it and start using something else for WebRTC. Maybe, Firefox forgets that this plugin still exists. The sound performs much better if you disable this plugin.

Hi, thanks for the report. As Gingerbread man says, we don't use the OpenH264 plugin for playing Youtube videos, so the problem is likely something else. Have you tried starting Firefox with a fresh profile, or with other plugins disabled?

Hi there, Yes, I have been doing that for quite a long time now. I also would be waiting for Mozilla's AV1 to be mature as well. When Mozilla's AV1 is released to the public, this plugin would be removed correct?
Eventually, but not immediately. The OpenH264 plugin will be needed for some years to video conference with devices which only support the older video format.
I don't have any more ideas on this bug. Sorry things aren't working for you.
