Details
Build ID: 2002050108
Reproducibility: Always
When opening a page in new window/tab, but connection fails, Mozilla alerts me,
then the title becomes (Untitled) with no address in location bar or title bar,
as if it were a new window.
In NN 4.x, I could sometimes reconnect to that server by looking at its location
on the title bar.
But Mozilla just alerts me. In case I closed the page that has a link to that
location, and didn't bookmark it, I would have to look for it again.
I suggest leaving the URL of the page (that Mozilla failed to connect to) in the
location bar, enabling the user to retry connecting.
Confirming on linux and OSX. Changing:
Platform: All, was PC
OS: All, was Win98
Component: URL Bar, was XP Apps
Note: this is especially frustrating if I happen to have just walked out of
802.11 range, and get a failed connection. I should be able to walk back into
range and hit reload. Instead I have a blank tab.
The XUL error pages might be a good-enough work around, or even a better solution.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Component: XP Apps → URL Bar
Ever confirmed: true
OS: Windows 98 → All
Hardware: PC → All
Noticed a typo. "lacation bar" should be "location bar".
Summary: After connection failed, url should remain in lacation bar → After connection failed, url should remain in location bar
