Various people are asking to use Node.js in the Firefox build system. There is active discussion about this at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/mozilla.dev.builds/L2Tp2uS1PGE/yiy30e1EAgAJ. I'm creating this bug to serve as a tracking bug for that build system feature request.
Should we dupe this with bug 1187958? Also, there is interesting work in progress in bug 1401189.
