Details
Sites that use smartupdate feature of NS do not work in Mozilla. There is a
software installation option but is not compatible with smartupdate. There
should be a backwards compatibility.

Mozilla now uses XPI, see bug 61938 for example.
Do you have URLs sites that require SmartUpdate ?

Yes, unfortunately they are internal to the company. They would be more likely
to require IE use than switch to NS 6/ moz convention I would not be surprised
to find.
