Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:58.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/58.0
Build ID: 20180118215408

Steps to reproduce:

Opened different tabs and navigated to different videos on youtube but it just keeps buffering and the video never loads

Actual results:

The video keeps buffering infinitely

Expected results:

The video should have started playing after some time if not immediately but it never proceeds
I have tested this issue and manage to reproduce it on Windows 10 x32 with latest Nightly 60.0a1 x32, Build ID 20180130223236, with a clean profile. I opened around 10-15 tabs with youtube videos and observed that the video keeps buffering and then Firefox is freezing.

The bug is reproducible also on Beta 59.0b5 and Release 58.0.1.

I could not reproduce this on Windows 10 x64.

I think the suitable component of this issue might be Core:: Audio/Video: Playback

jya, someone on sumo is experiencing this and has infos about their setup, https://support.mozilla.org/es/questions/1201259, do you have an idea of what could cause this?

¡Hola!

FWIW, fellow redditor Todesfaelle over at https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/7ya0hp/firefox_5802_wont_play_youtube_videos/ states:

"the BitDefender AV was causing issues with various sites which used SSL encryption and apparently this involves Youtube/twitch videos"

¡Gracias!

Brindusa, in your reproduction do you have an antivirus package enabled? I wonder if you can confirm the hypothesis Alex proposed in #3.

Hi all, while reproducing the bug I had Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 enabled.

So if you disable it does it reproduce?

Unfortunately, I cannot disable the antivirus on the desktop machine with Windows 10 x32.

We have one testing machine in a separate network without antivirus, but it is with Window 10 x64bit. I tried different scenarios on this testing machine, but could not reproduce the issue. I observed that Firefox is going really slowly after opening 15-20 youtube tabs until all tabs are loaded, but no freezing or blocking. The same behavior can be observed on another desktop with Window 10 x64bit with Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 antivirus enabled

Tested with latest Nightly 60.0a1 (x32, x64), build ID 20180306100123.
