If you join a channel that has, say, a really long bugzilla query in the topic it isn't wrapped properly. This pushes the window edge far off to the right. It means that lines don't look like they wrap and you can't get to the scrollbar for the channel.

Insert spaces every 20 characters or so, to allow the topic to wrap. These spaces are not included in the inline-topic-edit textbox.

The spaces make URLs look really ugly :-(
I agree. Isn't there some way to make it force wrap long lines?
maybe <wbr> is supported in xul?
