From https://github.com/mozilla/normandy/issues/1123 The add-on stores preference study values in preferences so they are available during early startup. QA has reported that these preferences stay past the end of the study. Once a study is over, the matching preferences in this subtree should be removed.

This happens now since we re-sync the early startup prefs everytime a study starts or stop. If this isn't happening, then there is new problem that should be opened as a new bug.
