In the lower bar, the number displayed is the double of the real number
displayed in the left UI pane.

This is a regression, as this bug  was no more present in my previous nightly
Moz 1.0+ 0305

Yes Stephen, with Moz 1.0 and Moz 1.0+0621 as well.

At the moment headers are downloaded, the number displayed in the lower bar is
correct, but when bodies are in their turn displayed, then this number is doubled.

Can you delete your .msf for the newsgroup(s) and then tell me if you see this
again?

Deletig all .msf's have had no effect.
In between, I have installed
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.1a+) Gecko/20020704
on a new profile, and it seems correct now.
