If you click and drag on the bookmarks button on the bookmarks bar it seems to allow you to drop it somewhere like in the window where html is displayed. This triggers navigation to http://bookmarks-button/. It also acts as if it can be dragged to a different position in the bookmarks menu that drops down.
Folders on the personal toolbar will not close if you drag over them. Also note that the button can't be moved on the personal toolbar, at least I can't. Confirming on Win32 with mozilla build ID: 2002051006 (RC2)

Summary: "Bookmarks" button can be dragged and dropped → Bookmarks button on the personal toolbar can be dragged and dropped
Confirming on Mozilla 1.0rc2 2002051006 and Win2k. Bookmarks Button can't be moved, just wrong drag&drop behavior. It's ugly that the Bookmarks button behaves like a drag and drop element, because you can no more use the bookmarks symbol with the mouse button hold.
Confirming this behavior in Mozilla 1.0 (2002053012) WinNT 4.0. This is extraordinarily annoying from a UI point-of-view. It's a common action to click "bookmarks" on the bar, hold the mouse button down, move to the desired bookmark and release the mouse button. This currently results in a drag of the bookmarks button which is inconsistent with expected browser behavior. You can of course click "bookmarks" on the bar, then independently click the bookmark in question, but most people are accustomed to the one-click approach to pull-down menus. I don't know if this is a bug or a feature (i.e. if there's some obscure useful thing you can do with a dragged "bookmarks" button) but IMHO it is not correct behavior.
For me, this makes the Bookmarks button unusable. I always pull down menus with a single click; there's no way I can change this deeply-ingrained habit just for a single menu. Bookmarks should clearly behave like a menu (i.e. clicking on it and dragging down should just open the menu and let you select something), rather than like a link (which could conceivably be dragged somewhere).
bug 143031 comment 71 ...is this fixed (on trunk at least)? wfm linux trunk cvs 2002-07-08, wfWD win2k 2002070804.

As of Build 200207208 bug seems to be fixed on Win2000. Does it require further verification?

Ben, if you don't know which bugfix fixed a bug, the bug should be marked WORKSFORME, not FIXED... I don't want to reopen this now though, so marking verified fixed
Status: RESOLVED → VERIFIED
fyi, I fixed that in bug 139471 on the trunk. This bug had nothing to do in this module.
