Details

We're carrying quite a bit of code spread throughout the installer files that specifically serves Windows versions prior to 7. We no longer support those versions and the installer refuses to execute on them, so this code can be removed.

As one example, we have quite a bit of code for managing quick launch shortcuts that's never run because we stopped creating those when the quick launch was removed from the default taskbar in Windows 7.
