Preconditions: Firefox Nightly 60 Customized Build: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1429814#c4 Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download the installer in the Preconditions section 2. Run the installer and let the download complete 3. Navigate to about:addons 4. Navigate to "Extensions" tab and verify add-ons from the original profile are intact 5. Navigate to the "Extensions" tab and verify the "YouTube Dark Purple" add-on is installed Expected Result: YouTube Dark Purple add-on is installed. Actual Result: YouTube Dark Purple add-on is not installed. This happens with a new profile and an existing profile. This is also reproducible if the installer is stopped mid-way and restarted. This is reproducible with Windows 7, 8.1, and 10.
The problem is that the URL I had hard-coded for downloading the extension from has stopped working. Presumably this is because the extension has been updated since then, but I don't really understand how the AMO download URL's work, maybe they're supposed to expire. In any case, I'm not worried since we're not moving forward with user testing on this particular extension. At least we've tested the download failure path now, and it seems to have worked. Might be a good idea to get some help getting a more stable URL for the real test though.
